Larsen Family Fundraiser

Some of you might know my cousin and his family, Daryl and Ashley Larsen. For those of you who don't, they are a young couple here in Perry, who just lost their baby to a rare lung disorder. Their loss is truly a tragedy. They are now experiencing the beginnings of what will be a land slide of medical bills. In an effort to aide them, there will be a one day fundraiser at the Maddox Steak House. On November 5, you can call Maddox at 435-723-2916 and order the Turkey Steak dinner. You can choose the 2 or 4 family meal at the regular price. All proceeds will then be donated to the Larsen family. You do need to remember to mention the Larsen family name when ordering. You can then pick up your meal at the take out window in the back of Maddox. It will be for lunch and dinner. Please spread the word. Feel free to copy and paste this post on your blog.

Thank You, Savanna

Gherkin

I wanted to let you all know that Evan and I are expecting! Right now we are just calling the baby “Baby Gherkin” (Baby Pickle) as we do not know the Gender and do not agree on any names. The Due date is Jan. 9, 2009, so we still have a long way to go. My mom and sister are going to throw a baby shower in Brigham City on Friday September 5th (I know the Friday of Peach Days, but it was the only time we could fit it into my trip there.) It will be an open house so you can come and go as you please. I would love to see as many people as can make it! (If I can’t see you then let me know what works better for you as I will be in Utah from Aug 30 to Sept. 6th and would love to meet up. ) I also need mailing addresses; if you have a lot of current addresses or can just send your own I would really appreciate it! Please send them to mckellcosta@hotmail.com . I hope to see you all in Brigham City!

It's A Girl!!!

Just an update on our little one. Jason and I recently went in for an ultrasound and found out we are having a little girl. We are both really excited. Either way we would have been, but it is just fun to finally find out. She is just perfect and beautiful. This picture isn't the best. Jason took the clearer one to work to show off and put on his desk. It has been so much fun to experience the little movements she makes as she gets stronger. Jason finally got to feel it for the first time on Father's Day. She obviously wanted to give him something special.

Jason's family is really into football and even though Jason had dreamed of his own football team, he is still really happy. For Father's Day I ended up giving him a Broncos shirt that had DAD on the back for the name and a big #1. Then I bought a little onesie and embroidered BRONCOS in blue and orange. Jason was thrilled to know that even though it wasn't a boy, he could still have his little football fan alongside him.

Well, hope everyone is doing well. Take care!

Love, Andrea

Happy late Mother's Day!

I was just thinking today, how awesome it is being a Mom. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for bringing such a wonderful blessing into my life. I can't even begin to describe the feelings I have had these past six weeks. I knew that being a Mom would be special but I never thought in a million years that it would be one of the greatest experiences in my life. This is a little late but I just want to wish all you great women, a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY (this is for all women, not just moms)!!! Love, Savanna

Introducing... Brooklyn Mae Watkins

Hello!

Well I guess that this post is long overdue! Brooklyn Mae Watkins was born on April 29, 2008 in Mesa Arizona! She was 9lbs. 8ozs. and 21 and 1/2 inches long! She sure is beautiful and a very sweet baby as well!

It was alot of effort to get her here, she was transverse and so the doctor tried to do a bunch of things to manipulate her position, nothing seemed to be working though! Because she was transverse she would not drop at all, so I was dialated to a 3 and 75% effaced for almost 3 weeks. My doctor is a very traditional and conservative guy and so he did not want to start anything early, his philosophy is, is that if you can let things work out naturally then it is so much better for the infant and mom. Well I completley agreed with him, until it seemed that nothing was going to happen naturally. :) Finally, on Monday April 28 I was getting up to go get ready for bed and my water broke! We were so excited! We went to the hospital and then waited and waited and waited. The contractions came but after 12 hours I was not dialating anymore and the poor baby still would not drop and still was the wrong way. So they started me on potossim(sp?) and said ok well you are going to be here another 12-14 hours!!! So we just waited and waited. I did get an epidural but becuase my labor was so long the silly thing ran out about 3 hours before she was born! Finally things had progressed enough to start pushing, and I had a great nurse who somehow got this little girl to turn around! Well then she came fast! The nurse barely could get the doctor fast enough!(I think he almost did not even believe her considering the way things had been going!) So our little Brooklyn was born at 7:56pm after 22 hours of labor! It kind of sounds like it wasn't that much fun, but we had a great nursing staff and Ryan and my mom helped me keep my mind off everything so it was actually a really nice experience. We feel so blessed that she is here, and that all went smoothly! I just can't believe she is 2 weeks old!! I hope everyone is doing well! Congratulations, Savanna on your new little one, and Congratualtions to Andrea on such wonderful news! Have a wonderful day!
Take care,
Holly and Brooklyn:)

And then there were 3!

Hey Everyone,
Masen Reed Hancey arrived April 25th. He weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz., 19.5 inches long. The doctor started me 2 weeks early because I had high blood pressure. I ended up having a c-section. Allen and I are glad to have him in our lives. We are working on making the adjustment from 2 to 3.

Miracles In My Life

I just wanted to post an expression of my gratitude for everyday miracles in my life. First off, I better just come out with the big news. I figured it was about time for me to contribute to the baby frenzy. Jason and I are expecting a little one October 30th. Many of you were probably wondering when it was finally going to happen. We are coming up on four years being married and have numerously had to answer the torturous question of “So, why don’t you have kids?” I guess we can finally be rid of that in our lives.

Just to explain a little of our background, we had been trying for quite some time to get pregnant and were successful three times, but all ending in an early miscarriages. We sought out medical explanation, but they couldn’t figure it out for quite some time. We finally had a lot of blood work done and found out that I was at a very high risk for blood clots. So, this increased my chances of miscarriage significantly. They told me that if I ever wanted to stay pregnant I would have to test very early on and get into the doctor as soon as possible. So, month after month we waited and nothing. We were getting quite frustrated and one day decided that it was going to happen on the Lord’s time and there was no reason for us to force the issue. And you guess it, just the next month we found out I was pregnant. This being a miracle that we weren’t sure could ever happen.

I have been watched over very carefully by my wonderful doctor (another miracle that we found him). He is just perfect for our circumstances. We had some difficulties at first with a lot of bleeding and cramping, but a very inspired priesthood blessing was offered and comfort was given. Everything was looking good and we were finally letting it sink in. Until, my second run of blood work came back. They immediately filled a prescription for me for injections to thin my blood. I was terrified of the idea of sticking myself with a needle everyday. We had prepared ourselves for this because we were told that with my condition it may be the only way to remain pregnant and alive, but I still didn’t want to face it.

Luckily, it has been tolerable but my belly looks like a battle ground. Jason has been so kind and comforting when giving the injections. I think he may even enjoy it a little too much. How many husbands are given permission to “bruise” their wife?? Well, we have really learned so much from this experience and I am sure we will be learning much more. I am so appreciative of the Lord’s guidance in my life. He has been a steady hand for me throughout it all.

Sorry about the novel and I don’t mean to write a pity post, but I just wanted to give the details of a grateful heart and a few miracles.

Take care everyone and I will keep you posted.

Love, Andrea
