Miracles In My Life
I just wanted to post an expression of my gratitude for everyday miracles in my life. First off, I better just come out with the big news. I figured it was about time for me to contribute to the baby frenzy. Jason and I are expecting a little one October 30th. Many of you were probably wondering when it was finally going to happen. We are coming up on four years being married and have numerously had to answer the torturous question of “So, why don’t you have kids?” I guess we can finally be rid of that in our lives.
Just to explain a little of our background, we had been trying for quite some time to get pregnant and were successful three times, but all ending in an early miscarriages. We sought out medical explanation, but they couldn’t figure it out for quite some time. We finally had a lot of blood work done and found out that I was at a very high risk for blood clots. So, this increased my chances of miscarriage significantly. They told me that if I ever wanted to stay pregnant I would have to test very early on and get into the doctor as soon as possible. So, month after month we waited and nothing. We were getting quite frustrated and one day decided that it was going to happen on the Lord’s time and there was no reason for us to force the issue. And you guess it, just the next month we found out I was pregnant. This being a miracle that we weren’t sure could ever happen.
I have been watched over very carefully by my wonderful doctor (another miracle that we found him). He is just perfect for our circumstances. We had some difficulties at first with a lot of bleeding and cramping, but a very inspired priesthood blessing was offered and comfort was given. Everything was looking good and we were finally letting it sink in. Until, my second run of blood work came back. They immediately filled a prescription for me for injections to thin my blood. I was terrified of the idea of sticking myself with a needle everyday. We had prepared ourselves for this because we were told that with my condition it may be the only way to remain pregnant and alive, but I still didn’t want to face it.
Luckily, it has been tolerable but my belly looks like a battle ground. Jason has been so kind and comforting when giving the injections. I think he may even enjoy it a little too much. How many husbands are given permission to “bruise” their wife?? Well, we have really learned so much from this experience and I am sure we will be learning much more. I am so appreciative of the Lord’s guidance in my life. He has been a steady hand for me throughout it all.
Sorry about the novel and I don’t mean to write a pity post, but I just wanted to give the details of a grateful heart and a few miracles.
Take care everyone and I will keep you posted.
Love, Andrea
